Project-based learning

Project-based learning is a learning method that treats a complex challenge as a mechanism stimulating the trainees to analize situations, make observations, problem-solve, improve decision-making etc. It has usually an interdisciplinary and long-term character and forces the trainees to manage their individual work and teamwork, time, available resources etc.

Worth to know

  • Celebrate successes and view failures as learning opportunities. Encourage students to reflect on what they learned from both their successes and challenges.

  • Build a good project work environment by leveraging teamwork tools, document sharing, and simple project management tools.

  • You can ask teams to give you access to their project documents and results, so you can support them during the project.

  • Use templates, checklists, and other practice-oriented tools to shape the learners work in a proper way.

  • Engage students with real-world problems that are meaningful and challenging. This makes learning more interesting and helps students develop practical skills.

  • Empower students by giving them choice and voice in their projects. Allow them to take ownership of their learning by making decisions about their project's direction.

  • Cross-curricular projects can help students see how different subjects connect and apply to real-world scenarios. This interdisciplinary approach enriches learning and fosters a more comprehensive understanding.

  • Provide scaffolding and support as needed. While students need to explore and learn independently, guidance from educators is crucial to help them stay on track and overcome obstacles.
